Baseball player Kyle Sawyer has many labels: bad boy, delinquent, ladies’ man, fearless outfielder… Only one of them is actually true. But then sweet ballet dancer Faith Gladwell asks him to help wreck her reputation, and everything goes sideways.

Faith knows a thing or two about love, and what she had with her cheating jerk of an ex wasn’t it. When he starts spreading rumors about her being an Ice Queen, Faith decides it’s time to let a little bad into her life.

Lucky for her, Kyle Sawyer—dark, dangerous, totally swoon worthy Kyle Sawyer—is landscaping her backyard over Spring Break. Shirtless. And if she can convince him to play along, “dating” Kyle will silence the rumors.

But Faith’s plan threatens to expose Sawyer’s biggest secret of all…and that’s a risk he’s not willing to take.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Faith is the type of girl who’s considered a goody-two-shoes. She’s been wanting to break up with her boyfriend Cameron and when she finds him cheating on her, she takes that opportunity to leave him. Unfortunately for her, Cameron tells everyone at school that she’s cold, uptight and basically wouldn’t “put out”. In order to stop those rumors, she needs a plan. When she sees Kyle Sawyer, the delinquent, ladies man and the bad boy from her school, fixing her backyard, she decides to ask Kyle to fake date. Kyle agrees but he’s afraid that Faith will realize his reputation is actually not who he is.

I absolutely loved Faith and Kyle’s friendship and relationship. I was a little nervous that their relationship wouldn’t be believable once they admitted they liked each other later on. But I was surprised that it was included very early on in the story and it was done really well. Kyle’s interest in Faith is there from the start. He would be so respectful towards her and the dates he would take her on were really thoughtful. Kyle is definite swoon-worthy material! Faith’s attraction to Kyle was immediate and with purpose! I mean, the guy is shirtless, showing off all the muscles while doing heavy yard work *fans face*. And to tease her, he throws water over himself. Commence all the swooning ever. I felt for Kyle since he has a reputation to uphold and the closer he gets to Faith, the harder it is to keep it up. But Faith figures he really is a good guy and the rumors spread about him are just that: rumors.

I was really invested in the story, despite a few cliches and cheesy moments. It was so fun to read and cute, adorable, and a little steamy with the kisses. It was beyond entertaining! I loved the real, genuine interest both characters had for each other. I also loved Faith’s friendship with Violet! Violet was the funniest character in the story and she deserves her own book!

Overall, The Bad Boy Bargain is a fast yet very entertaining story with an adorable romance and a message of staying true to yourself.

  • Aw this sounds super cute. Love that cover too!! Great review!

  • Awww this looks soooo cute!!!!!!!!!

  • I always see these books around, but I don’t know, they seem a little too cutesy for me?
I do like the sound of the relationship between Kyle and Faith, especially if they started off as friends.
    Lovely review, Gen!

    • Entangled Teen has some that are way incredibly childish but this one was perfect for the high school setting and nothing felt childish. And the romance was just adorable!

  • I’m glad you liked this one! I may have to add it to my list in the off chance I’m in the mood for contemporary fiction! Great review 😀

  • This one sounds great! Definitely something I think I may love so I’m for sure adding it to my TBR 🙂 Thanks for the review!

  • This sounds adorkable and cheesy can be cute 🙂

  • I just finished reading this book last week and I agree with you. This is a very cute read. I loved that even though Kyle was viewed as the “bad boy” he was the most genuine and respectful young boy I’ve ever read about in a YA novel.

  • I’ve had my eye on this one for a while now but tried to curb my requesting of eARCs but this looks too cute for words and I’m glad to see you liked it because now I am going to buy it. Thanks Gen!

  • This one sounds so adorably cute! Even with a little cheesiness. 🙂 Faith sounds like a sweet girl and Kyle sounds positively swoony. I’m adding this one to my TBR. Great review, Gen!

  • The Book Disciple

Sometimes I love the books with cheesy moments and a few cliches! They just make me feel all melty inside!

  • Awww, this sounds adorable, like the cover would imply! I think cliche and cheesy works sometimes, especially in terms of “fluffy” contemporary romance. The male protagonist sounds wonderful. <3 I'm glad you enjoyed this book, Genesis!

  • I came across this one a while ago, but I didn’t really pay it much attention. I’ll keep an eye out for it now because it does sound lovely! 🙂

  • This one sounds so adorable! I’ve heard pretty good things about it from some other blogs as well. I love how they confess their feelings early on! I always get a bit anxious when they don’t admit their feelings for eachother for the majority of the novel. Kyle sounds like my kind of male protagonist! I love how he teases her by throwing water over himself! That’s hilariious! 😀
