He knows how to score, on and off the ice

Allie Hayes is in crisis mode. With graduation looming, she still doesn’t have the first clue about what she's going to do after college. To make matters worse, she’s nursing a broken heart thanks to the end of her longtime relationship. Wild rebound sex is definitely not the solution to her problems, but gorgeous hockey star Dean Di-Laurentis is impossible to resist. Just once, though, because even if her future is uncertain, it sure as heck won’t include the king of one-night stands.

It’ll take more than flashy moves to win her over

Dean always gets what he wants. Girls, grades, girls, recognition, girls…he’s a ladies man, all right, and he’s yet to meet a woman who’s immune to his charms. Until Allie. For one night, the feisty blonde rocked his entire world—and now she wants to be friends? Nope. It’s not over until he says it’s over. Dean is in full-on pursuit, but when life-rocking changes strike, he starts to wonder if maybe it’s time to stop focusing on scoring…and shoot for love.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

This book was hilarious, fun, good-time read and just fantastic! The Deal is still my favorite book but The Score definitely comes second. I knew I wanted to read about Dean as soon as we meet him in The Deal and he is making out with like two or three girls at the same time. Great first impression, I know. I knew his story would be great seeing as he likes to joke and he always get what he wants. He’s known Allie for a while but have never seen her as something else until they spend the night together and now he cannot get enough of her.

“I do what I want, when I want. And I don’t give a shit what people think about me.”

Allie has just broken up with her boyfriend (A-freaking-men!) and she needs to be around people so she won’t go back to her ex. Who’s forced to stay with Allie? DEAN! Allie wants nothing more to do with Dean after that night but she can’t help but feel that pull towards him and she obviously stops resisting. I mean, it’s Dean we are talking about here.

“[…] See, if you take away my dick privileges, I’ll be fine for months. Years, even. But if I take away your pussy privileges? You’ll be utterly lost. Like a drowning man at sea, desperately grabbing for the vagina preserver. Therefore, vagina trumps penis.”

Dean was the one with all the jokes and sexy lines, used to getting his way whereas Allie is feisty and doesn’t take Dean’s bullsh*t. You go, girl! You combine these characters and their banter will be hilarious. After the sexual tension is out of the way and the real romance starts, you can’t help but ship these two. Dean turns a new leaf (as much as Dean would do) and we start to see this romantic side he has never shown before. Your insides will melt and you will be rooting for him to get his happy ending with Allie. Their romance was slow to build and realistic in my opinion. They didn’t have sex and thought “gosh I’m in love”. Not at all. They got to know one another, hang out and after a lot of hanging out did they really start feeling something and then coming to terms with their real, deep feelings.

“I am doing what I want. I’m making you happy.”

Not only is romance a focus in this story, there’s also lots of talk friendship and being loyal. We have the guys from the hockey team and they are more than just a team—they are a family. I’m being cheesy, I know but it’s the truth. They treat each other as if they were brothers and they are/will be there for one another, which is shown in all three books of this series.

This book stays true to real life. We have Allie struggling on what she’s going to do after she graduates and a lot of us go through that (I’m going through it and it sucks). When you have a tight group of friends, the questions of “will we keep contact”, “will we stay friends”, “will we meet up” once they graduate are very normal and the reader can see how tight and how much a family they truly are.

If you loved the previous books in this series, prepare to love and adore this book and prepare to laugh and grin like an idiot because let’s face it. It’s Elle Kennedy and she’s a master at making her readers laugh.

  • So glad you enjoyed this one so much, Genesis. I thought the jokes, especially the Twilight ones, were hilarious and the banter was excellent like you said. I have to say though that Dean wasn’t my favorite out of all the 3 boys we’ve met so far. I think that’s just me and my general dislike for manwhores like him. Their romance was really good though.
And O.M.G. I just need Tucker’s book because it’s going to be AMAZING. I didn’t know just how much I wanted that coupling to happen until I read the end. 🙂

  • I am right there with you! The Deal is my favorite, but this is my second! I adored Dean! He was so much fun and OMG his banter with Allie was so great! I am so glad she broke up with her boyfriend too! I was NOT a fan! I love how much of a role the secondary characters play in this series. It really is college NA as it should be written!
