I can’t believe Ebookathon is already over! This past week flew by SO FAST! I’m proud of myself for how much I read last week, and proud of how close I stuck to my tbr. If you read most of my wrap ups, you know I’m awful at sticking to tbrs, so the fact that I read (or attempted to read) THREE of the books really makes me proud! I know I could have read more ebooks this week, but I was also reading some of my physical ~spooky~ books that I planned to read for my October reading challenge. All in all it was a great reading week for me!

A Girl Like Her (4 stars) – This was my first Talia Hibbert book, and I enjoyed it so much! This is a romance about the town’s outcast, and the new guy in town, and was unputdownable. A Girl Like Her is so diverse, so sweet, and the main love interest is so caring and compassionate. I definitely recommend this book to romance readers!

Echo After Echo (3.5 stars) – I heard so many good things about this book, and I really enjoyed it! I loved reading this f/f YA contemporary about a girl who gets to live her dream of being an actress. Unfortunately, once Zara starts rehearsals for the major show she’s in weird stuff starts happening at the theater. Overall I enjoyed the book, but there was something about the writing style which led to a disconnect with the characters.

Smothered (DNF) – I tried reading this, but only got about 12% into the book before I had to put it down. I thought this would be a fun, quirky book about a girl who doesn’t know who she is/what she wants after graduation, but instead felt a little too over the top for me. The main reason I had to DNF the book, is that the main character makes some side comment (that’s supposed to be funny?) about her family’s housekeeper (who can’t speak much English and can’t converse with the family, but is “part of the family” 🙄) and how she might be undocumented.

Once Upon a Bride (4 stars) – I LOVE the Bridesmaid’s Behaving Badly series by Jenny Holiday, and loved reading this novella about how the side characters from the first book met. I wish this was a full length novel, because I enjoyed these characters so much!

If you participated in Ebookathon, let me know how your week went!

  1. I would have DNF’ed Smothered as well. There is no need for comments like those at all. I am glad to see that you really liked the other three books you read for this readathon.

    • As I was reading, I was like “wait, really? You’re trying to make this a joke?” Yes, the other books were good, and I’m so glad I finally read them!

  2. I didn’t know this readathon was happening, what a good idea!

I feel like I’ve been hearing a lot about Talia Hibbert but can’t find any ebooks or audio which sucks. I also need to give the Bridesmaids series another go. I couldn’t get into Wendy’s (I think that was her name) story.

    • I had lots of stuff going on, so I didn’t make an announcement on here earlier as I would have liked. I’ll definitely share when we plan the next round though! This was my first Talia Hibbert, and I really enjoyed it, I got her book off amazon a while back.

    • Thanks, I was super surprised at how well that went lol! I was bummed that I didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought I would, but I still thought it was a good book. Do it! I really enjoyed the Talia Hibbert book I read, I am definitely checking out some of her other books soon.
