Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme, hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we get to make bookish lists!!

This week’s topic: Top Ten ALL TIME Favorite Books Of X Genre

I chose Contemporary! I love this genre so much! I’m recommending all of the Young Adult, New Adult, and Adult books below!

All the covers lead to my reviews or Goodreads page.

Young Adult

NowhereButHere_finalFC p.s. i like you paper princess rules-of-attraction Before You

All of these are either 4.5 or 5 stars. They were fantastic reads. Some were so light and fun, while others had a more serious story, but still so freaking enjoyable. (I sobbed while reading Before You. You can see my video review here.)

Important message

the anatomical shape of a heart hello how it feels to fly crash-into-me all the bright places

These books deal with Schizophrenia, Depression, Suicide, Self-Harm, Anorexia/Bulimia. They all involve Mental Illness and I think they were very well portrayed in these novels.

New Adult

Undecided (1) ugly love blurred lines the deal kiss the sky

hothouse flower addicted after all the-summer-games-out-of-bounds when stars collide

Ugly Love is the most emotional one of the bunch. The rest are so much fun! I was laughing hard or probably swooning with all the romance. I highly recommend all of these if you’re looking for light reads.

The characters I’ll never forget are from the Addicted/Calloway Sisters series. I’ve read those books 2 or 3 times already and I know I’ll be re-reading them every year.

Adult

after i do one true loves paper hearts before we were strangers before we fall

Where i belong swear on this life for better or worse change of heart black-hills archer's voice

All of these are heavy on the feels. Like, hard-core heavy and I wouldn’t have it any other way. All of these stories are ingrained in my brain and in my heart. They are so very special and dear to me.

My ultimate favorite has to be Change of Heart <3

THAT’S IT, EVERYONE! I HOPE YOU GIVE THESE RECS A TRY. THEY ARE SO WORTH IT.

  1. Love this topic – contemporaries are my happy place. Kasie’s is one I really want to read and I’ve been meaning to read a novel by Katie McGarry for a while now. Also, I’m curious about “How It Feels to Fly,” so I’ll have to look that one up. 🙂

    • Right? Contemps always make me happy. P.S. I Like You is so freaking cute and adorable! If you haven’t read anything by Katie, check out Nowhere But Here. That was my first novel by her earlier this year and I fell in love! It’s a long book but it didn’t feel like it was long at all.
How It Feels to Fly is such a beautiful and meaningful read. It deals with body image issues and I feel like everyone out there can relate to the main character in one way or another 🙂 I hope you like it!

  2. I MUST read Hello? soon!! I met the author in line at BEA and she may be the nicest author I’ve EVER talked to. All the Bright Places is high on my TBR because I’ve heard AWESOME things about it.

    • You do! Liza is so freaking sweet. She’s been there for me to give advice and everything. She’s awesome 🙂 and the author of AtBP (Jennifer Niven) is another sweetheart! I met her and omg, I couldn’t believe someone could be so sweet until I met her.

  3. So many great books that I still have to read! I did fantasy this week, but seeing the contemporary lists make me want to focus on that genre for a while 🙂 I only read Nowhere But Here, All The Bright Places (FAVE!) and Ugly Love, but I’m so adding all the other ones to my TBR now!

  4. Funnily enough, I’ve never been a big fan of contemporary fiction, perhaps because I’ve also used reading as an escape from the everyday, and contemporary fiction is just a little too much like real life. 🙂

  5. Every single book on your lists are either books I’ve read and really liked or books that I want to read. We have the same taste in books, which doesn’t surprise me at all. Great lists!

  6. You read too many books my friend! I’ve read a few of these, so I agree with Hello?, Crash Into Me, Ugly Love, and The Deal. I have a few of these that I haven’t read yet and others that I need to check out 🙂

  7. So many awesome picks!! Nowhere But Here… love it so hard. I have P.S. I Like You checked out from the library right now and will read it very soon. Ugly Love… possibly my favorite by CoHo. Miles Archer breaks my heart. And the Addicted series… YES. One True Loves… it’ll be in my faves of 2016 for sure. And I *must* read Archer’s Voice by the end of the year!!

  8. Oooh these are great! I really do love books that tackle tough issues, or have lots of feels, and you have given me quite a few to check out! I don’t think I’d have ever given a second look at Change of Heart, but when you said it was your favorite… well, now I need to! TOTALLY agree with ATBP and How It Feels to Fly, too! There are quite a few I am really looking forward to reading and even own- like Anatomical Shape and Hello?, and a few more that are on my wishlist! LOVE these, thanks for sharing them!

I think I will be starting The Summer Games here soon. Maybe even tonight 🙂 But, so many books to add to my TBR (I think a lot of them are from you recommending but I’m a bad seed and never end up reading them *oops*).
