I’m back with another quarantine wrap up! Like I mentioned in my first wrap up, I got through periods of reading a lot and periods of not reading at all. Not only that, I’ve been in the process of moving which hasn’t helped with reading either. Anyways, here’s another wrap up of the books I’ve read during quarantine.
Check Please Vol. 1 (4.5) – This was a reread since my copy of volume 2 came in the mail. I enjoyed this jsut as much the second read through. I love this series so much, it’s so so cute and so much fun to read.
Check Please Vol. 2 (5) – I didn’t know it was possible for me to love this series more, but I do. I love these characters so much, and I actually teared up a few times while reading this book!
Shatter Me (4)/ Unravel Me (5) – These were rereads for me. The original trilogy is one of my favorite series, and I’ve been so excited to continue on with the series, but wanted to wait until the last three were all out. Since the last one came out last month, I decided it was time to read the series. I still think the series holds up and is still one of my faves.
Sure Shot (3.5) – I’m not going to share too much here since I have a review going up for this in a few days. I really wanted to love this book, and for the most part I did, there were just some things that happened that lowered my star rating.
Ignite Me (4) – When I initially read the finale to the original trilogy it was a five star for me. Since rereading it I lowered it to a four star, because some of the fight scenes were too short and I wanted more from them.
Restore Me (4) – I loved how realistic this book was. It picks up pretty soon after the third book ends, and shows the struggles all the characters are going through. Just because they won the war doesn’t mean everything is okay, they’re still processing everything that happened and everything they lost.
Defy Me (5) – This went in a completely different direction than I was expecting, but I loved every minute of it. Defy Me is definitely more violent and graphic than the other books in the series, so heads up for that. Also THAT ENDING, I loved it so much.
Wicked Saints (2.5) – I’m so disappointed about this book. The premise sounded amazing, and the first third was pretty amazing, but it went downhill afterwards for me. I couldn’t connect with the story and felt like chunks were missing. Big things would happen that were supposed to make me react, but I felt so disconnected that I just didn’t care when that happened. There was also a romance in the book, and I felt that there was no chemistry between the two characters.
Beach Read (3.5) – Overall this was a disappointing read for me. I think a lot of it had to do with the hype surrounding it. Everyone hyped it up as this great romance, and while I enjoyed the romance in it, I felt that the book was about so much more than that and not what I was expecting. I love how grief was written in the book, and how real both characters felt. The two characters also had some pretty amazing banter which had me laughing out loud quite a bit. Even though I enjoyed the book, since it was not what I was expecting it lowered my rating. Also, trigger warning for discussion of child abuse.
