It's been six weeks since angels of the apocalypse descended to demolish the modern world. Street gangs rule the day while fear and superstition rule the night. When warrior angels fly away with a helpless little girl, her seventeen-year-old sister Penryn will do anything to get her back.

Anything, including making a deal with an enemy angel.

Raffe is a warrior who lies broken and wingless on the street. After eons of fighting his own battles, he finds himself being rescued from a desperate situation by a half-starved teenage girl.

Traveling through a dark and twisted Northern California, they have only each other to rely on for survival. Together, they journey toward the angels' stronghold in San Francisco where she'll risk everything to rescue her sister and he'll put himself at the mercy of his greatest enemies for the chance to be made whole again.

reviewWow! Oh Wow! I did not expect to like this book as much as I did. I picked this book up because a friend of mine recommended this to me and she told me a million times I would love this book. I just wished I listened to her sooner. Like seriously WHY DIDN’T I READ THIS BOOK SOONER?!?

This book had me hooked, right from the start. Susan Ee doesn’t ease you into the story or starts giving you a bunch of details about it… NO! Right from the start you get the action, the thrill and the downright gruesomeness from this book, but in such a fantastic, well written way that keeps you at the edge of your seat and wanting more. I loved the writing style because everything was just explained and presented to me in a way that everything clicked and made sense. Also no information dumping or word vomiting in this book.

The story and the plot are so well written and so well thought out I’m still completely surprised by it. I’ve read a bunch of books about nephilim and fallen angels but I don’t think I’ve ever read a book where the main problem or the main plot surrounds ANGELS. Like honest to god, winged, biblical freaking angels. And let me tell you guys this is a very interesting take on angels, I mean I would not like to mess with any of the angels of the apocalypse. Then again who would?

An amazing fast paced, captivating and very gruesome and gory. I can honestly say I did not expect half of the things that happened in this book. This book gets seriously creepy and messed up by the end (I get shivers just thinking about it)

This book also has some awesome characters. Penryn is badass. She is one strong female character with some wicked survival skills. This girl officially joins the list of kick-ass female YA characters. And in a true YA spirit, one must always have a romantic interest. I love Raffe, to me he had personality and overall just a well written character. He is officially my angel crush. But let me tell you guys I loved, completely loved the interactions between Raffe and Penryn. I loved their banter and their teamwork. Even though we have a romantic story is not overpowering in the sense that the main story was around Penryn, her sister and this huge angel apocalyptic chaos

I absolutely loved this book and I can’t wait to pick up the next one. Recommend this book 100% if you are into this kind of books. And please don’t make the same mistake I did. Do not wait to pick this up. It’s freaking fantastic.
