She wants a normal life. They want her dead. Destiny has other plans.

Twenty-year-old Alayna Scott receives visions around water, but even her foresight couldn’t prepare her for the tragic accident that claimed the lives of her parents. With everything she loves gone, Alayna packs up and moves to the small town of Juniper Grove in hopes of starting over.

Jayden McKnight can’t explain the attraction that he feels whenever Alayna is near, but he does know that he will do whatever it takes to win her heart. When a vampire selects Alayna as his next victim, Jayden will stop at nothing to ensure her safety – even if that means bringing Alayna into a world that she never knew existed.

Love blossoms, challenges are made and Alayna will find herself fighting not only to survive, but to understand what she has become.

REVIEW

Destiny Awaits is about Alayna Scott, a twenty-year old who receives visions when she is near water but no vision showed her that her parents would die in an accident. She realizes she needs to start anew so she moves to Juniper Grove, hopeful that the people from that town will like her and accept her. Arriving at her new place, she finds herself already liking where she is going to live. Jayden McKnight drops at her house unexpected with a charming smile and alluring emerald green eyes. The connection between them is instant. Unfortunately, a vampire sets his eyes on Alayna, wanting to kill her, Jayden rushes to her side to save her, but has to welcome her to a new life humans don’t know exist, a world of vampires and shifters.

The author gives very detailed description of the events and surroundings of the story. The reader can submerge themselves into the story and imagine themselves being there, watching everything vividly. Each detail comes to life while reading, which is something not many authors are successful at, but Jaidis is very successful at it.

The visions that Alayna receives were inherited from her mother. Alayna always feels calm when surrounded by water. Some images that she receives are memories from her past, while others show her the future. Alayna has received visions of a boy with emerald green eyes and who knew that boy was Jayden McKnight.

Jayden McKnight is a very charming yet sweet guy. He has a tan, muscular body with a very strong jaw line and high cheekbones with long black hair. Alayna was immediately drawn to this hot specimen. Who wouldn’t?!

I found the first few chapters very fast-paced. If you know me, then you know I love fast-paced but, for having just met, Alayna and Jayden were getting on a more personal level, so I didn’t really like that. For example, a few days later of having met, Jayden, whom seems to never have shared his sister’s story before, confides in Alayna immediately. I find that to be going fast but at the same time, I find it as he trusts her, and seeing as this is a vampire and shifter story, I guess it is bound to be out of the norm.

What I do like about this fast-paced story is that two chapters in and Alayna is already meeting the vampire who wants to kill her and that’s when Jayden brings her into this world she didn’t know existed and it’s where the fun begins!

Sofia is probably my favorite character of the whole story. She is genuine, kind, sweet, a great mother to Jayden and a great woman overall. She accepts Alayna with open arms and defends her when needed and is like a mother figure to Alayna. I feel overwhelmed (in a good way) when I read about Sofia. At times, I forget she’s an adult because she is so small and has the spirits of a teenager. My heart always reaches out to her, even if she is just a book character.

Violet is another character that I love. I love her friendship with Alayna, I love how smart ass she is and how she never judges Alayna. I cannot wait to read more about this character in the second book of this series.

I love Alayna and Jayden’s relationship. They are both so carefree around each other and are always teasing each other, even when things are serious. Jayden always gets so worried about Alayna and I find that so cute! Jayden makes me feel giddy. His care for Alayna doesn’t have an ending. He behaves like a true gentleman with the occasional teasing.
