After her father’s untimely demise in a mining accident and her mother’s abandonment, Lauren Lindsay is no stranger to loss. She’s used to living life for one person: herself. That is, until another family tragedy thrusts three children into her care and uproots her life in ways she could never imagine.
Lauren's first instinct is to run, until she meets their striking, mysterious neighbor Dean Powell. Their immediate chemistry and his connection with her late father just might be enough to keep her in town long enough to uncover pieces of her past that she never had answers to. Dean’s shady past and her reluctance to trust him could cost her the life she's always been searching for, but will she run back to her old life?
Or will she choose to stay and live the life her father always imagined for her?
I started reading a little bit after 10 p.m. on August 26 and finished at exactly 12:27 midnight. I just wanted to keep reading! It was so cute and such a sweet story. And how could I go to sleep when Dean Powell is Henry Cavill’s look-alike?
It had it’s funny moments, it’s serious moments, love moments, family moments…it has everything a great contemporary story would have. I was so comitted to the book, especially to the amazing Emma! That cutie is amazing and I love her!
IGNITE is a powerful, coming-of-age story that shows us that no matter what life throws at us, we can stay strong. It teaches us forgiveness and committed love. Plus, it has a scene of being stuck with Dean *cough* Henry Cavill cough* inside a cabin when an avalanche is going on. Hot, right?! Well, not hot since it is cold because of the snow…but their heating feelings will be enough 😀
This story can be read by anyone and everyone that loves a good contemporary novel, and yes, this does include young adults as well as adults.
I loved each character. I guess you could say that everyone can identify with any of these characters individually or with all of them. While reading, I found a bit of myself in each of the characters, which had me surprised and happy to finally have found a book like that. This is a slow-paced book, taking things slowly. If you know me, I do NOT like slow-paced books, until IGNITE appeared. If you want a break from a lot of drama books, paranormal, fantasy, and just want a relaxing book to read that can make you smile and happy, then definitely buy IGNITE.
He was wearing glasses. Who was he, Clark Kent? No one looked this good all the time. It just wasn’t possible.
“…I’m not actively trying to use my rugged sexuality against you. It’s not my fault you’re so attracted to me.”
Why I love Emma so much:
“If I were a prince, who would I be?” Dean asked Emma, who was on his shoulders.
“Um,” she looked up, deep in thought. “Prince Eric.”
“Why do you say that?”
“Because Lauren is Ariel and you love Lauren just like Eric loves Ariel.”
