Kellan McVey is Burnham College’s most prolific athlete, partier, and ladies’ man—and that’s just how he likes it. Returning to reign for his third year, he wants nothing to change. Then Andrea Walsh shows up.
It wasn’t too long ago that Andi and Kellan were lifelong friends, mortal enemies, and, for one hot summer, more. Then Kellan left and Andi stayed behind.
Kellan thought he’d moved past that last summer’s heartbreak, but with Andi sitting next to him in class, befriending his friends, and battling for the same once-in-a-lifetime job opportunity, he’s starting to remember why he hated her…and why he loved her.
Kellan has a long list of reasons that falling for Andi again is a terrible idea, though every new moment together challenges that theory. But Andi’s all too familiar with Kellan’s love ’em and leave ’em approach—and she’s found someone else to get serious about.
Burnham’s campus king has never had to fight for a girl, but if he wants Andi to give him another chance, he’ll have to do the one thing he’s never had the nerve to do: admit it.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
One of my favorite New Adult reads last year was Undecided! I promoted that book everywhere and to everyone. It was so amazing! I couldn’t wait to get Undeclared on my Kindle and let me tell you, the wait was painful. Finally, the day came that it arrived and I started to read it…
I don’t know what happened. The author wrote a fantastic NA story in Undecided, but it’s like all that went away for Undeclared. I actually liked Kellan in the first book so I was excited about his story, but I was left a little bit disappointed. Kellan didn’t completely win me over. It got to a point where I didn’t really care if he ended up happy or not, which says a lot since I wanted him to get his HEA. I think one of my reasons for not really liking much of Kellan was his personality. In the first book, he’s portrayed as someone who’s easy-going and the fun of the party. I get he’s trying to change his ways after an STD scare, but that doesn’t mean he has to stop being a fun guy and I missed that of him.
I’m a major fan of second-chance romance but even then, I was mostly eh on the romance. At times, it was believable and at others, it wasn’t. I really liked their flashbacks, but there weren’t enough of them in the story. Not only that, but the flashbacks showed a different side of Andi and Kellan. Their chemistry back then was intense, but now it was… Non-existant? That really took away from their second-chance at love for me.
I wish Crosbie and Nora had made more appearances in the story. I really liked the friendship that Nora and Kellan developed in the first book so I was expecting to see more of it in this second installment, but that wasn’t the case 🙁
Overall, I was obviously expecting a whole lot more of Undeclared. I highly recommend you check out Undecided since that’s a New Adult gem! (Check out my review here.)
