Tome Topple is over, and I’m so proud of how much I read during these last two weeks! This was my second time participating in Tome Topple, and I did MUCH better the second time around. If you’re interested in seeing my tbr for this round, it’s posted here. I was really excited about all the books on my tbr, which really helped me speed through my reading.
The Goldfinch – If you read my tbr post, you’ll remember that I was halfway through this book before the readathon started. This was my completed tome of the readathon, I read 373 pages, and rated it 3 stars. I loved the premise of the book, and most of the story was interesting, but I felt that there were too many descriptions and it made the book so dense and hard to get through. After reading a few chapters, I remember why I set it down the first time. I’m glad to finally have completed this tome, and remove it from my tbr shelf!
The Diviners – This was a reread for me, and I flew through this book and fell in love with the story again because it’s SO GOOD! I love the characters, I love all the supernatural elements of the story, and I love the plot. I rated this book four stars again, and immediately dove into Lair of Dreams. During my reread I picked up on so many things I didn’t the first time around, and it made some things from book two make sense to me! Overall I read 578 pages of The Diviners.
Lair of Dreams – I finally moved on to the second book in Libba Bray’s series, and made more progress than I ever have. I’ve tried reading it before, but because it had been so long in between reading the first and second book I could never get into it. This time, as soon as I finished The Diviners, I jumped right in and enjoyed it immensely from the beginning. I love getting to read about my favorite characters from the first novel, and getting more information and insight into side characters from The Diviners, and new characters to the series. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to finish the book for Tome Topple, because school got crazy the last week with final projects, so I only read 218 pages. I’m excited about how much progress I made, and I can’t wait to finish reading once my projects are turned in, and it’s winter break.
