GEN’S LIFE HAPPENINGS

  • I’ve been doing Blogilates this week and I feel so good! Honestly, I didn’t even want to exercise (even though I know I should). My boyfriend knows how out of shape I am when we go out to the river so he has been telling me to at least walk. I knew he was right so instead of walking, I jumped into Blogilates. Am I sore and think I will die? Yes and yes. Is it worth all the burning? Hell yeah!
  • I went with my family to watch HACKSAW RIDGE and wow. Brilliant movie that I want to see over and over again. I highly recommend this movie. I shed a few tears while my mom shed a fountain and the lady behind us shed a waterfall. It was that impressive and inspiring.

GEN’S HAUL

for review

instagram-pic237 hooked-on-trouble roommate romance

I received a surprising book mail this week from Atria Books! They sent me the paperback edition of HIDDEN BODIES since it was releasing on Nov. 1st. I actually haven’t finished this book but I hope to pick it up soon.
I got e-mailed from the publisher to review HOOKED ON TROUBLE!! I really liked the second book in the series and I’ve been dying for Raven and Nico’s story!
The author of ROOMMATE ROMANCE e-mailed me to review her book and I had to accept! It’s been a while since I’ve read a good roommate romance novel (since Blurred Lines in 2015) so I’m hoping this is good.

I won Siege and Storm from Girl Plus Books!! (Fun fact: around last year’s Christmas, I won Shadow and Bone!) A few Sunday’s ago, I posted a picture of four pins I had won from AJB Design. Andrew saw the picture and was kind of enough to send me the Book Wyrm pin to complete my collection!

GEN’S WEEK IN READING

the-girl-with-the-lower-back-tattoo lady-claire-is-all-that the-dark-room punk-57 corrupt

I read PUNK 57 and CORRUPT in one day! Yes, both of them! I now have a major book hangover and I just want to re-read CORRUPT again. Gah, I just loved how twisted and dark it was! Normally, I don’t read these type of books but hot damn *fans face then turns on air conditioner*
THE DARK ROOM surprised me a lot and I enjoyed the thrill of the case so much!
LADY CLAIRE IS ALL THAT was really good. The banter had me laughing a few times.
THE GIRL WITH THE LOWER BACK TATTOO had me in tears, had me laughing, had me suffering for Amy. My first memoir and it was great.

GEN’S CURRENTLY READING

Nothing… CORRUPT left me with a major hangover and I don’t know what to read next. I just want more of the Devil Night’s series!

  1. Sorry you have this huge book hangover, Gen 🙁 That sucks – even if in some ways it’s also pretty fantastic that a book made such an impact on you that nothing else will interest you.
Like Grace, I have to check out blogilates too. I need to get back in shape as I’ve put on a lot of weight since I quit smoking six months ago. I hate that all my clothes are tight!
Have a wonderful weekend and hopefully happy reading 😉

  2. Ahhhh you must tell me what this Blogilates thing is because I have literally never heard of it before and am too lazy to google. (shame on me, I know) Also I’m SO excited to watch Hacksaw Ridge. I’ve been wanting to see it ever since I saw the trailer because OMG IT LOOKS SO GOOD. I shall make sure to bring tissues though. Seems like I’ll need them!

  3. LOL yeah Blogilates can do that. I love Cassie though and she makes working out so much fun. I hadn’t heard of Hacksaw Ridge but it looks good.
I’m glad you enjoyed the Penelope Douglas books. Her stories are very problematic, but they are very addicting! You should check out Rival by her. N & I are obsessed with that one.
I hope you have a lovely week ahead!

  4. You had such a fantastic week, Gen. I’m so jealous of your ability to read so much books in one week. I’m in a wicked reading slump right now and I just absolutely hate it. I think I should try reading those Penelope Douglas books!

    Have a wonderful week!

  5. Oooh I really want to read Amy Schumer’s book! I like the occasional memoir but only the funny ones 😉 Hacksaw Ridge sounds so good but I would probably cry a LOT and I don’t know how many more tears I have in my eyes at the moment haha. So I googled blogilates. I had never heard of this before! Hope you have a lovely week, my dear!

  6. The Book Disciple

Punk 57 and Corrupt have been on my wish list. Corrupt I have avoided because I wasn’t sure I was up for dark and twisty. You might have just convinced me to give it a shot though!!
Glad to hear your liked Lady Claire! That one is on my TBR for December!

You’ve had a great reading haul – I LOVE the look of Seige and Storm, but I must be self controlled as Himself I have spent FAR too much money on books lately:(. Glad you enjoyed Hacksaw Ridge, I tend to prefer most escapism so went to see Fantastic Beasts on Friday with I highly recommend – I’ll be reviewing it tomorrow… In the meantime have a great week. 8. I haven’t heard of Corrupt until now, but looking it up I see that it is knocking the socks off from just about everyone that it touches. How wonderful it is to find a read that you fall in love with like that. I say to follow your desire and read it again.

  9. All of that exercise sounds difficult, but I’m glad you’ve found your motivation! Now if only I could find mine… Congrats on the giveaways! I love Siege and Storm! Have a great week 😀

    Here’s my Weekly Recap!

  10. I love Blogilates! I find it amazing! I started with the beginning calendar and now I can keep up with her regular schedule and it totally leaves you sore! I love it in the winter because you don’t have to leave the house to exercise! I haven’t heard of the book Corrupt, but I will need to check it out! Have a great week!

  11. Hi Genesis!

Confession – I had to Google Blogilates. I think I must be living under a rock. 😨 I’m glad you’re loving it! I have completed week 2 of successfully going to gym… Now just to keep pushing! I don’t know why I start just before the silly season though…

The Lower Back Tattoo is in my TBR and I’ve heard such awesome things I need to go track it down – like yesterday! I just need to make the time to read it.

Sorry about the book hangover – I hate those. I hope you find the perfect book to pull you out of that slump.

Again, best of luck finding a Co blogger!

  12. Blogilates, that’s cool! I’ve seen a few other bloggers participate, and it seems awesome. I’m glad you liked Lady Claire is All That! This new series by Rodale is so good. =) I hope you enjoy all of your new books!

Have a wonderful week, Genesis. =)

Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!

  13. I love the Grisha books. It is great that you won the first two around the same time, maybe you will win Ruin and Rising, too. Ha ha. It was great that they sent you the completing pin. Have a wonderful week. 🙂

If I could devote any time to blogging right now, I would so co-blog with you G! I hadn’t even heard of that movie before but it does sound good!
